A tour and listing of major tourist attractions along Hollywood Boulevard, together with the less known attractions from the past and present. A short description on each attraction is given together with links (where applicable) which lead to further detailed information on that subject. 

Even Numbers are South side and Odd numbers are North side of Hollywood Boulevard.

 
  Egyptian Theatre

Egyptian Theatre. 6712 Hollywood Blvd. Tel:- (323)-466-FILM.
Opened in 1922, the Egyptian, built and owned by Sid Grauman, was the first film Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.  Recently the entire exterior of this grand movie palace was restored to its original appearance. It has a 150-foot courtyard, on-site restaurant, Egyptian murals,  period marquee and neon blade sign. Inside the historic shell is a state-of-the-art working theatre and now shows daily  films on the History of Hollywood. Official website

Pretty Woman Hotel

Las Palmas Hotel. 1738 N. Las Palmas Ave. opposite The Egyptian Theatre.
 "The Pretty Woman Hotel".  This is the hotel where Julie Roberts supposedly lived and was eventually rescued by Richard Gere in the film Pretty Woman.


Musso & Frank

Musso & Franks Grill.    6667 Hollywood Blvd. Tel:- (323)-467-7788 
At the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Cherokee Avenue , you'll find the first restaurant in Hollywood. Established in 1919, this old-fashioned restaurant  has become a Hollywood  landmark. Musso & Franks Grill is over 80 years old, allowing it to claim  the title of  "The oldest restaurant in Hollywood"
  Sit in booths where Charlie Chaplin and other stars of the silver screen once dined. The restaurant was originally owned by John Musso and Frank Toulet which explains the name.


  Guinness

The Guinness World Records Exhibition. 6764 Hollywood Blvd. 
Based on the Guinness Book of Records, you will see over 3000 facts, feats and world records shown or told about.

  Janes House.

  Frederick's

Lingerie supplier to the stars visit the free Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame inside. A display of underwear worn by  Hollywood stars in the movies. Monroe to Madonna the stars underwear can all be found on display here.

 
Hollywood & Vine

Hollywood & Vine. Famous junction on Hollywood Blvd.
This was where most of the studies were years ago.  When TV. reporters were making reports on Hollywood, they stood on this junction and finished by saying "This is  --------  reporting from Hollywood & Vine"


  Capital Records

Capital Records Building. 1750 Vine Street. Tel:- (323)-452-6252
Shaped like a stack of records this building was the worlds first circular office building. One of the worlds most famous buildings. The light at the top of the building emits the name Hollywood in Morse code at night. At the bottom of the building is a large painted mural featuring recording artists of Capital records. Inside the lobby you can view many gold records awarded to such artists as The Beatles etc. John Lennon's Walk of Fame Star is right outside and is often used for candlelight vigils on the anniversary of his death.  Official website  www.hollywoodandvine.com 


Trolley Bus

Hollywood trolleybus tour. A familiar sight on Hollywood Boulevard is the old yellow trolley buses, pick one up by the wax museum for a tour.   

  
Pantages

The Pantages has become one of the greatest landmarks of Hollywood, signifying both the glorious past and glorious future of the world's entertainment capital. Hollywood Historic Society

Historic Signs.  A recent addition on the boulevard by the Hollywood Historic Society are 46 signs erected at historic sites along the boulevard. Each numbered sign contain details & a photograph of an historic building and a pointer to the next sign. By following these signs you can now take your own historical tour of Hollywood. The Outpost Building

The Outpost Building. 6715 Hollywood Blvd.   Apartment building where over the years many of the Great Hollywood stars have stayed. Entrance lobby is full of photographs of the stars and early views of Hollywood Boulevard & surrounding area's (1920's on). Just walk in the entrance and they are displayed on the walls. Look at the views then look outside at that same view today you'll be amazed. 


Marilyn Monroe

This is where Marilyn Monroe first had her hair dyed blond.     
The rest is history. 


Hollywood History Museum

(less than a 100yds. from Ripleys)  Located inside the  Max Factor Building, the Hollywood History Museum is Hollywood's newest major attraction. Four entire floors are dedicated to exhibits from Hollywood's most memorable era. Costumes, props and memorabilia from famous and rare Hollywood films will be on display highlighting Hollywood's glamorous history and mystic.

Mural's are part of everyday life in L.A. Some of these paintings last for years while others are just temporary  to cover hoardings on building sites etc. Keep you eyes open and snap any that you see & like, as they may not be there next time you visit L.A. There are 100's of Mural's throughout L.A. all with there own distinctive names.
