" The Original Fredrick's of Hollywood "

Fredrick's Of Hollywood
6608 Hollywood Boulevard,
Hollywood, Los Angeles.
(Now at 6751 Hollywood Blvd see bottom of page)

The business was started by Frederick Mellinger (inventor of the push-up bra) in 1946. A gray and pink building a few blocks south of Mann's Chinese Theatre is where you will find Frederick's of Hollywood - lingerie supplier to the stars. Tucked away in Frederick's is "The Lingerie Museum" a unique display of lingerie supplied and made by Frederick's over the years. Fredrick's jewel in the crown is their "Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame" which exhibits the lingerie previously worn by the movie stars of Hollywood :-

Lingerie worn by the cast of TV series "Beverly Hills 90210"

Black lace panties donated by Zsa Zsa Gabor

Two bras donated by Cher (one black, one white)

The slip worn by Lana Turner in the film "The Merry Widow"

They have Madonna's black and gold bustier, which she wore during her "Who's That Girl" tour

Fur-trimmed negligee and bra worn by Cybil Shepherd in "Moonlighting"

The lacy garter belt worn by Susan Saradon in the film, "Bull Durham"

The girdle worn by Ethel Merman in the film "There's No Business Like Show Business"

There's even women's lingerie that was worn by male actors, such as the bra Tony Curtis wore in the classic comedy film "Some Like It Hot" that also starred Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon.

Also on show are assorted lingerie worn by Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Greta Garbo, Mae West, Natalie Wood, Kim Bassinger, Jamie Lee Curtis, Pamela Anderson, Lana Turner, Doris Day, Bette Davis, Shirley MacLaine and many other stars. The exhibits are constantly being updated from Films, TV and the stars own donations.

Admission is free and the lingerie museum is located in the back of the Frederick's store. The lingerie museum is open seven days a week, during normal store hours.
The lingerie museum is located in Frederick's of Hollywood, on Hollywood Boulevard, just a few blocks south of Mann's Chinese Theatre. From Mann's Chinese Theater, just go south on Hollywood Boulevard, and Frederick's will be on your right hand side.

In September 2005, after 59 years, the store moved to a smaller space a few blocks away, near the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue. 6751 Hollywood Boulevard. Here, in addition to the selection of bras and panties, there are catsuits, corsets, stiletto heels, and thigh-length boots. The store no longer houses The Lingerie Museum featuring The Celebrity Lingerie Hall of Fame which exhibited a collection of underwear worn by Hollywood movie stars, such as one of Madonna's pointy-breasted corsets.
