Famous Houses in Los Angeles.

Houses that are associated with  the deaths, murders, suicides and scandals of famous celebrities. Included are houses that have appeared in major Hollywood movies. 

810 Linden Drive Beverly Hills.  It was here shortly before midnight on 20th June1947 that Bugsy Siegel was shot and killed by a hail of bullets. Siegel is widely acclaimed as the man who built Las Vegas. His hotel The Flamingo was the first super hotel to be built on the  now famous strip, then just a dirt track outside Las Vegas. Built with Mob money Bugsy was reportedly killed for skimming money from the Mob. Subject of the 1991 Film Bugsy starring Warren Beatty, Benny Siegal was perhaps the most famous mobster of his era.

722 N. Elm Beverly Hills. The real Nightmare on Elm Street, it was here that film executive Jose Menendez & his wife Kitty were gunned to death on 20th. August 1989. The couples own sons Lyle & Eric were later arrested and convicted of the murders. Subsequent films The Menendez Murders and Honor thy Father tell the story of the murders. 

512 N. Palm Drive. Beverly Hills. Jean Harlow's last home it was from here that she was taken to hospital where she died on 7th. June 1937.

730 N. Bedford Drive Beverly Hills. It was in this house that Lana Turner's daughter Cheryl Crane, stabbed & killed Lana's then boyfriend Johnny Stompanato on 5th. April 1958 in the right upstairs bedroom. Ruled a justifiable homicide questions have always been asked about how a fourteen year old girl could overpower a 175 pound man. It was widely believed that Lana killed him herself and Cheryl took the blame to save her mother. 

12305 Fifth Helena Brentwood. House in which Marilyn Monroe died. 

625 Beach Road. PCH Santa Monica. Peter Lawford's beach home in which Monroe Monroe & President John F Kennedy carried on their secret affair in the early 60's. .  famous houses

516 Walden Drive Beverly Hills.  The Witch's House this house was built in 1921 for a movie studio in Culver City. It was used in several films until 1926 when it was moved here, to this residential area of Beverly Hills. It has been a private home ever since. Looking just like a Hansel & Gretel cottage it is quite easy to see why it as become known as the Witch's House.

565 N. Cahuenga Hancock Park. This is the house that was used as the Cunninghams home in the TV series Happy Days.

802 Bedford Drive Beverly Hills. It was in this house that Richard Dreyfuss and Bette Midler lived in the film Down & Out in Beverly Hills which also starred Nick Nolte as the down & out. 

1428 N. Genesse Hollywood. The house used in the film Nightmare on Elm Street where Freddy Kruger ran amok.

1530 & 1537 Orange Grove Hollywood. The houses used in  the filming of Halloween starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Nearly opposite each other, look out for the famous Jack O Lantern hanging in the porch way.  famous houses

614 N. Walden Drive Beverly Hills. You will recognize this house from the film Beverly Hills Cop II starring Eddie Murphy. It was in this house that Eddie pretending to be a building inspector, closed the work down and then moved in himself.

10050 Cielo Drive Beverly Hills. Site of one America's most brutal murders it was here in the early hours of 9th.August 1969 that 4 followers of Charles Manson broke in and slaughtered the six occupants. The most famous being film star 
Sharon Tate (who was eight and half months pregnant at the time) she was stabbed 16 times and her blood used to write the words PIG on the walls. The number as now been changed to 10066 Cielo Drive to confuse sightseers.  

875 S. Bundy Brentwood.  Nicole Simpson condo, where she was found in a pool of blood with her throat cut on  12th.June1994. Both she & Ron Goldman were found lying outside on the pathway, since renumbered to 879 S. Bundy.

426 N. Bristol Brentwood. The house where actress Joan Crawford and her daughter Christina lived. Christina alleged in her book Mummy Dearest that Joan abused her in this house. The book, later made into a film of the same name, became a best seller and the house became known as the Mummy Dearest House.  

14611 Sutton Street, Sherman Oaks  The last home of James Dean, it was from this house that he set off to his death.

10100 Sunset Blvd. Beverly Hills. Jayne Mansfield Pink Palace. This pink mansion now owned by singer Englebert Humperdinck , was originally painted pink by 60's Sex Symbol Jayne Mansfield. This pink mansion has now become one of Sunset Boulevard's best known sights. Demolished in November 2002.

10236 Charing Cross Road. Beverly Hills. "The Playboy Mansion". Hugh Hefner lives and runs his "Playboy" empire from this Mansion, in his dressing gown, surrounded by beautiful girls.

8763 Wonderland Avenue. Laurel Canyon. Site of the "Wonderland Murders" where four people were beaten to death with a steel pipe on July 1, 1981. The major suspect in the case was Eddie Nash but the best known suspect was porn star John Holmes. Subject of the 2003 movie "Wonderland" starring Val Kilmer.

750 Bel Air Rd Bel-Air. Beverly Hillbillies Mansion in the TV series where the Clampetts lived.

1270 Tower Grove Rd. Beverly Hills. The house in which Heidi Fleiss ran a brothel which was frequented by the Rich & Famous. Heidi's story was told in the film Madam of Beverly Hills.

360 N. Rockingham Ave. Brentwood. O.J.Simpson's home at the time of his arrest for the murder of his wife Nicole & Ron Goldman. The new owners have since demolished this house and built a new one. 

9402 Beverly Crest Dr. Beverly Hills. This was the house where film star Rock Hudson died of AIDS. Hudson's death, being the first  big name star to die of  AIDS, brought massive public awareness to the disease. Currently owned by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft with Bill Gates.
