Studied opera at the Lincoln Center in her hometown of  Chicago. Her love of pop music saw her join a group called The Gems in 1961 which proved to be a failure. Despite this failure Minnie continued searching  throughout the 60's for a major hit of her own. Her big break came in 1975 with her recording of "Lovin You" a song she released with the help of Stevie Wonder. This song became a massive hit and turned Minnie into one of the most popular pop stars of the decade. Sadly, as the decade came to an end Minnie's health declined. She was diagnosed with breast cancer, which claimed  her life at the age of 37. Her one hit the classic "Lovin You" is still played today. The first full sentence from  "Lovin You" is the 1st.line of her inscription.
