" Final Resting Place of Carl Wilson"

Carl Wilson
21st.December 1946 - 6th.February 1998.
Musician/songwriter & founding member of "The Beach Boys"
Grew up in Hawthorne, a middle class district of Los Angeles, together with his brothers Brian & Dennis. Started out singing
with his brothers for friends and relatives, then formed a group "Carl & The Passions" with his brothers. It soon became clear
Brian was some what of a genius regards song writing and arranging and so a name change to "Kenny & The Cadets" (Brian being Kenny). Dennis Wilson already a Surfin addict suggested they write a surfin song, result "Surfin" which became a minor hit on the local X label, later Candix label. It was a Candix promotion man who suggested they call themselves "The Beach Boys". Their first public performance under their new name was at "The Ritchie Valens Memorial Concert" Long Beach in December 1961. After Candix folded in 1962 they joined Capital records and their first release "Surfin Safari" went straight into the US Top Twenty. The Wilson brothers had with clever harmonies, twangy guitars and Brian's genius created a brand new sound, the Surfin sound. The Beach Boys hits continued throughout the 60's, 70's, 80's and thanks to CD compilation their legacy still survives today. Although the driving force behind the Beach Boys is credited to Brian Wilson, all the brothers paid their part and Carl will be remembered for that.
