It was here in 1939 that composer Harold Arlen wrote "Over the Rainbow". Lana Turner was also supposedly discovered here. frequented by all of the stars of the day Schwabs closed in 1985 and was torn down in 1989. A Virgin Megastore & shopping complex. now stands on the site of the famous Schwabs.
