Carl Perkins
9th April 1932 - 19th January 1998
Country Rock Singer
Born:- Lake City, Tennessee.
Recorded in the famous "Sun" studios in Memphis under Sam Phillips. He
also wrote the Elvis Presley hit "Blue Suede Shoes"
of which he himself had a hit in 1956. Went on to became a major country artist
in the USA. Toured and recorded with the Beatles in the 60's and became part of
"The Johnny Cash Road Show". Recorded with many artists in the 80's
including, Paul McCartney, Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash. "The Carl
Perkins and Friends Show", to commemorate the 30th anniversary of
"Blue Suede Shoes", included George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric
Clapton and Dave Edmunds. Inducted into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 but
Carl is still best remembered for his writing of classic song "Blue Suede
Shoes".
