Gordon MacRae
12th March 1921 - 24th January 1986

Actor and Baritone singer of the 50's Musical Films.  A TV star of the 40's before signing a 7 year contract with Warner Bros in 1948, and soon after made his film debut in the non-musical  "The Big Punch" opposite Lois Maxwell (well known later as Miss Moneypenny in the James Bond films). Soon after came a string of Musicals which made him a star, the best known of which are two of his last "Oklahoma" & "Carousel", opposite Shirley Jones. His TV work included "The Big Hour" which run from 1948 - 1954 and "The Gordon MacRae Show". His films included :- THE BIG PUNCH (1948) as Johnny Grant, LOOK FOR THE SILVER LINING (1949) as Frank Carter, THE DAUGHTER OF ROSIE O'GRADY (1950) as Tony Pastor, THE RETURN OF THE FRONTIERSMAN (1950) as Logan Barrett, BACKFIRE (1950) as Bob Corey, TEA FOR TWO (1950) as Jimmy Smith, WEST POINT STORY (1950) as Tom Fletcher, STARLIFT (1951) as Himself, ON MOONLIGHT BAY (1951) as William Sherman, ABOUT FACE (1952) as Tony Williams, THE DESERT SONG (1953) as Paul Bonnard , THREE SAILORS AND A GIRL (1953) as Choirboy Jones, BY THE LIGHT OF THE SILVERY MOON (1953) as William Sherman, OKLAHOMA! (1955) as Curly, CAROUSEL (1956) as Billy Bigelow, THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE (1956) as Buddy DeSilva, ZERO TO SIXTY (1978) as Officer Joe and THE PILOT (1979) as Joe Barnes.
