Ira Gershwin  6th December 1896 - 17th August 1983

World Famous Composers. George the younger of the two brothers died of a brain tumor at just 38 years of age. Ira the elder brother lived on for another 46 years until 1983. Although dieing at an early age George is perhaps the more famous of the these two brothers. George was entombed in his own mausoleum in 1937 and his brother has now joined him there now some 46 years later.
