Sonny Bono 
16th.February 1935 - 5th.January 1998.
Born:- Salvatore Bono, Detroit.
Sonny Bono worked for Phil Spector as a writer & producer in the early 60's. Wrote many hit songs including the classic  "Searchers" million seller "Needles & Pins". Met "Cher" at a Ronettes recording session, Cher was then a session singer, and they married in 1964. As Sonny & Cher they recorded " I Got You Babe"  which became a world wide hit and launched them as major stars. Sonny & Cher went on to have many hits in the 60's as well as a USA TV show. Their parting came in the 70's with a divorce and Cher going solo. Sonny himself dabbled with show business for a few years before entering politics. He became  Mayor of Palm Springs 1988 and went on to become a US congressman.
